ON THE OTHER HAND...

Went to the Popular Bookfest today, got VIP invites from my aunt. Ajaked Kelly along as well.

The workers this year have red aprons! I didn't get an apron last year. TT_TT

(FYI, I worked at last year's Bookfest under my aunt. Because renting space costs around RM20K this year, she decided not to participate. Boo.)

I am SO going to work at next year's Bookfest.

And I have this theory that the Popular company actually goes to Chinese high schools ('cos they need people who can speak Chinese mah) and recruit the workers. I'm serious, all of them look like they're in high school. Can tell one lah.

Oh, and look what I got!

And that's not all!

Haha. And guess what I'm reading now. :D

A New Update, FINALLY.

I'M BAAAAACCCCKKK PEOPLE! MISS ME?

Haha, corny lines aside, after receiving much complaints from various people *coughjasonhonyukellycough*, and having the entire weekend to myself, I've decided to be nice and treat you people to my experience, at the

MTV WORLD STAGE LIVE IN MALAYSIA!

And no, I'm not shoving it in your face, I'm just posting my account of it. If you wanted to go so badly you would've tried to get tix. So there.

Anyways.

On the 15th of August, 2009, I experienced the most awsome night of the year. A chance to be in the moshpit, with another few hundred screaming fans, watching world-class acts play live? No one would pass that up. Ever.

My guy friend (I'm not sure wether he wants his name to be mentioned, and I don't feel like letting him get any more attention, therefore he shall be known as 'the dude') picked me up from my house, and in return, I treated him to a movie. G.I. Joe baybay.

Can't comment much on the acting, but like Transformers 2, you watch it just for fun, not to critique it.

After that, went to line up for my mosh pit tix, which I got by e-mail (thank you, thank you, MTV, for inviting me). Took a bloody long time lor, but I saw some ex-seniors from BU3 there as well. That was interesting, since I haven't seen them in years.

Halfway through it started drizzling, so the kind MTV people on the job gave everyone 'MTV Wet Weather Gear'. How nice of them. :) (In the end, I didn't use it anyway. Neither did anyone from the few hundred moshers)

After getting my tix, made my way to the pit. Met another friend there. And together, we complained about how hot it was and why weren't any of the bands playing yet. :D

Finally, around 6++pm, Estranged started playing. Sad to say that we, the audience wasn't that interested. But there were groups of people headbanging to the 4 songs that were played. (I wanted them to play 'Itu Kamu'. They didn't)

After that, was BOYS LIKE GIRLS! Prior to this gig, I had no idea what they looked like, I swear. And now I know why so many girls fell, fall, and are falling for them.

(Excuse the next fan-girly-ish comment)

OMG THE LEAD SINGER IS SO SO SO GORGEOUS!!! BIG BABY BLUE EYES AND BLONDE HAIR AND HE'S FIT AS HELL :DDDDDD

Uhm. Getting on.

They played Love Drunk, Hero/Heroine, Thunder and The Great Escape. The best part was during the last 2 songs. EVERYONE sang along.

You know the feeling, where you feel so at ease and excited and happy when everyone is singing along to the same song? Yeah that feeling. I loved it. :D

AND AND AND. The lead singer actually climbed up the scaffolding on the right side of the stage during The Great Escape. Madness, I tell ya.

After them was Raygun. Now I'm sure when the MC announced that the next band were them, many of us thought: 'Eh, dunno what ciplak Malaysian band only lerr.'

So imagined our surprise when and English band came out. And I've got to say, they have the FINEST lead singer and bassist, EVER. The bassist was so fit, and blonde, and the lead singer was wiiillld.

And because MTV kept replaying their song, 'Just Because' before they came on, when Raygun started with that song, everyone just sang along. (Hey, that rhymed!) Unfortunately, they only played 4 songs. I know I wanted more than that.

Following was Pixie Lott. The first thing that came into my mind when she came on stage was:

Malaysia so blardy hot still can wear a long dress with long sleeves!?

BUT. SHE WAS AWESOME. Maybe some of you don't get it, but I happen to like female performers who can actually, y'know, SING. Like properly. But she only came on for 3 songs. Mighty super catchy ones too. :)

Hoobastank was next. 2 songs from their latest album, followed by Crawling In The Dark. THEN.

*"Doug" 'Audience'

"So, Malaysia, can you really sing?"
'YEAH!'
"Really?"
'YEAAAH!'
"Let's see you sing to this one.'

They started to play the 'Ghostbusters' theme song.

NOW ISN'T THAT THE MOST AWESOME AND RANDOM PART YOU'VE EVER HEARD OF BEFORE?!?!?

Hoobastank rocked. And that easy-excited feeling came back on full-force when they started playing The Reason.

*Sigh* I love singalongs. *smiles*

THEN THEN THEN

DUN DUN DUN DUN....

THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS! :DDDDDD

Tyson Ritter is mad sick man. He came out in a neon green tank top with BOTH his arms covered in PURPLE GLITTER. The guy rocks off all our socks.

They started off with 'Dirty Little Secret', which was WILLD. At that point I was RIGHT at the front, so seeing them up close like that, and headbanging and moshing to one of the world's most well known song...

People, y'all should've SERIOUSLY tried to go. Screw H1N1 lah. Damn worth it. (And I'm not sick yet.)

I'm getting sick of listing out the songs, but they played, in total, 7 songs, the longest set of the night.

ANDANDAND

When they played It Ends Tonight, I got that feeling yet again. (I LOVE CONCERTS LIKE THESE :D)

ANDANDAND

When they played their last song Gives You Hell,

TYSON CLIMBED ONTO THE SCAFFOLDING ON THE LEFT SIDE.

Mad crazy awesome lah basically.

At that point, dying of thirst, so had no choice but to ditch Kasabian (I'm sorry, I'm sure you guys were awesome as well T.T)

And uhm, for some reasons, I can't exactly tell you what happened next, but let's just say I got to see 2AM perform.

No pix, of the whole thing, cause camera's weren't allowed, and I didn't want my phone to go SPLAT on the mosh pit floor due to the moshing.

:D

In conclusion,

MTV WORLD STAGE ROCKED. HELL YEAH.

PLEASE COME BACK NEXT YEAR.

^^
